Black Lightning

The first of two Arrowverse shows on this list, Black Lighting was canceled ahead of its fourth season on The CW earlier this year.

The show was continually celebrated for its incredible Black characters and representation of the Black community, as well as its care is taken in representing the queer community. Nafessa Williams portrayed Anissa Pierce, or Lighting, in the series, making her TV’s first Black lesbian superhero.

Throughout the series, Anissa was in a relationship with Grace Choi, who would later become the vigilante Wylde. This couple also ends the series as a married couple, giving fans a glimpse of their future before the end of the show.

The loss of Black Lightning was not only upsetting for the future of the Arrowverse but also fans of queer representation on screen.
