Throughout 2021, many shows have come to a close, but it seems we’ve lost a startling number of queer TV shows along the way.

Though the Where We Are on TV report for 2021-2022 from GLAAD won’t hit the web until sometime in January of 2022, it’ll be interesting to see how each of these cancellations and conclusions affects the findings. Every year, the numbers GLAAD reports continue to climb, as they include all forms of queer representation on TV across broadcast, cable, and streaming.

For the 2021-2022 season, GLAAD reported that several numbers were down, such as the total number of LGBTQ regular characters on broadcast and cable, but they attributed the decrease to COVID-19-related delays and unusual airing schedules related to the pandemic.

Despite many networks getting back on track for next year’s TV season, numbers may fall again, as several queer mainstays bid their final farewells throughout 2021. Here’s our list of the top 5 queer TV shows that were canceled or ended in 2021 that we’ll miss very dearly in 2022.
