PlayStation Plus has a solid track record for its monthly games offered to its subscribers. Of course, there is always the chance for a weaker month of free games.

December seems to be one of those weaker months. It’s not a bad month for it, as plenty of us will end up with new games in our library come to Christmastime.

Below are your free games for December:

  • Godfall: Challenger Edition
  • Lego DC Super-Villains
  • Mortal Shell

Of course, if you own the PlayStation VR, the free games from last month are still available through this month as well.

Godfall: Challengers Edition launches on December 7. This version allows you to play the three endgame modes right off the bat: Lightbringer, Dreamstones, and Ascended Tower of Trials. You also can start your character at level 50 right off the bat. Godfall was hyped-up so much before it came out that it ended up being a bit of a let-down when it was released, giving us a solid gear-based action game, but the repetitive nature of it made it fall flat.

Still, if you’ve been waiting to play Godfall because you didn’t want to drop money on it, December is your big chance to give it a go!

Lego DC Super-Villains is probably the best game this month, just because the Lego games are almost always enjoyable. While it’s geared more towards younger gamers, it’s still a fun time and feels like you’re playing a better version of the 2016 Suicide Squad film. The Justice League has disappeared and a new villain team, the Justice Syndicate, has taken their place. The puzzles are easy and the combat isn’t anything to write home about. Still, it’s a fun time to play as the iconic Batman villains and hear all of the iconic voice actors in action.

Mortal Shell is your Souls-like offering for the month. It’s easier than a Souls game if you get a new shell relatively quickly. If you’re put off by the Souls games, don’t let that deter you from trying Mortal Shell. It’s a much less frustrating game and made for more casual gamers. It’s a smaller-scale game with gorgeous worlds and enough weapons to keep combat and gameplay from feeling stale.

If you’re in the market for a less-intense Soulsborne game, give Mortal Shell a try in December.
