Will Samantha Jones return to Sex and the City reboot?
Samantha Jones is being written out of Sex and the City reboot.
As Kim Cattrall declined to return for And Just Like That, the Sex and the City reboot, her character is being written out of the ten-episode series. Fortunately, Samantha has moved before so it wasn’t a big leap to have her relocated to London where, according to Dailymail.co,uk , her character is thriving. But does this mean viewers have seen the last of both Jones and Cattrall?
It’s no big secret that Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker aren’t on the best of terms, and in a case of art imitating life, Samantha and Carrie Bradshaw will be on the outs at the beginning of And Just Like That. But that doesn’t mean the producers want to close the door on the possibility of Samantha’s reappearance.
The door will be wide open for Samantha Jones to return to Sex and the City.
The door’s going to be held wide open if what an insider told Daily Mail is true. Supposedly, Carrie is going to have a really difficult time with the chasm that has formed between her and Samantha as she misses her friend. By the end of the first season of the rebooted series, Carrie is going to reach out in an attempt to heal the rift between her and Samantha, but will it work?
In the past, Cattrall has been very vocal about the working relationships on the series, calling it toxic. Other sources say the actress’ issues were all about the money as she was reportedly upset that Parker was making considerably more money than she was per episode.
Either way, times haven’t been good between Parker and Cattrall for a very long time. So would the extension of an olive branch be enough to have Samantha Jones returning to New York City? Or would the olive branch need to be extended to Kim Cattrall rather than the character she played for six seasons and two movies? It’s not like Cattrall isn’t staying busy, according to her Twitter page, but broken relationships can be repaired if both parties are willing.
