After the first season in its new time jump reality, Riverdale has returned with its sixth season in a five-episode crossover “Rivervale” event that brings Greendale’s own Sabrina Spellman to town.
Last week’s episode saw Rivervale haunted by a variety of ghosts including La Llorona, who threatened Toni and Fangs’ Baby Anthony. The ghostly mother ultimately refused to give up the hunt, forcing Toni to trade places with her in exchange for her baby’s life.
With two apparent deaths under our belt so far, season six of Riverdale is certainly off to a bang. Let’s see what’s coming up next.
Per IMDB, the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Chapter Ninety-Eight: Mr. Cypher,” reads:
"After being visited by a mysterious figure who arrives in Rivervale, the gang find themselves faced with unexpected ultimatums."
It seems like the Rivervale event is making full use of an alternate reality, bringing in all kinds of mythical and folkloric figures and storytelling to keep the twists and turns coming. The official preview for this week’s episode gives us a better look at who arrives in Rivervale next:
It appears Rivervale’s latest visitor is none other than the devil himself, coming to town with plenty of Faustian bargains to strike. What remains to be seen is who will outwit old Lucifer and who will he claim as Rivervale’s next victim? Needless to say, you’ll have to tune in to find out.
