After the first season in its new time jump reality, Riverdale is returning with its sixth season in a five-episode crossover “Rivervale” event that brings Greendale’s own Sabrina Spellman to town.
When we last left off with Archie and the gang, they had finally banished Hiram Lodge from Riverdale for good, beginning a new chapter in Riverdale’s history with Toni, Tabitha, Alice, and Uncle Frank elected as the town council members leading the new era of Riverdale.
However, not everyone was excited about turning a new page. While the core four were working on Riverdale’s proposed bylaws, Cheryl discovered a dark secret in her family history–her ancestor had been burned at the stake at the hands of her friends’ forebears, and Cheryl may have raised her, perhaps prompting Sabrina’s arrival.
Of course, with Riverdale, that’s not even the most exciting thing that happened in the finale. Betty and Archie seemed to finally get together, only to be caught in one last bomb left by Hiram Lodge.
The official preview gives us another look at what’s in store for the season premiere:
There’s a lot happening here, but we do see that Cheryl seems to be up to a lot of delightful witchy goodness, carrying on with her church shenanigans.
The trailer also shows Archie and Betty discussing a baby, a possible glimpse at Kevin’s Broadway career, and our first look at Sabrina’s arrival. Needless to say, you’ll have to tune in to find out exactly what’s going on.
