November TV release: Hawkeye – Disney+

Disney+’s latest Marvel series will finally give the franchise’s most often ignored Avenger – Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye – his due, and introduce the character’s #1 fan and eventual protege in Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, continuing the franchise’s slow reorientation toward a new crop of central heroes now that Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans’ contracts are all up.

The series seems to be a more straightforward passing of the torch story than some of Marvel’s other recent projects (see also: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and the trailer hints that Hawkeye plans to lean more into training hijinks than emotional existential crises. (Though one does hope this story is somehow going to deal with the whole Hawkeye became a murderous vigilante and spent like five years killing people between Infinity War and Endgame thing, right?)

But, regardless, Kate Bishop is one of Marvel’s most appealing young heroes, and the latest poster confirms that Lucky the pizza dog will indeed get in on the action, so it certainly seems as though this series is exactly the holiday gift that fans have been waiting for.

Plus, Hawkeye will also reportedly feature the return of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, first introduced in the Black Widow movie, though it’s unclear yet how Natasha’s sister might react to her former BFF.

Next. Apple TV's Servant is a great Halloween weekend binge. dark
