November TV release: The Sex Lives of College Girls – HBO Max

The buzzy new comedy-drama from The Mindy Project star – and The Office alum – Mindy Kaling, The Sex Lives of College Girls is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. A Sex and the City-style exploration of the lives of four female roommates during their freshman year at Essex College in Vermont, the series follows Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney as they navigate the highs and lows of college life.

A group of girls from all different walks of life, these young women will experience everything from partying and laughing together, to figuring out precisely who they’re supposed to be. Described as “equal parts loving and infuriating” in the series’ logline, these girls will take advantage of the new freedoms college offers them, and experience plenty of growing pains along the way.

“I guess I’m more interested in young women and their horny exploits than I thought,” Kaling said during a panel at this summer’s session of the  Television Critics Association press tour. “One thing that a lot of my shows and projects have in common are young women who have big personalities and big ambitions. On a regular show you may watch, there may be one character like that [but] I wanted to show four young women who come in with a really strong point of view.”

Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott star as the series’ lead quartet, joined by fellow regulars  Midori Francis, Gavin Leatherwood, Chris Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Lauren Spencer, and Renika Williams.

The Sex Lives of College Girls premieres on HBO Max on November 18.
