Taylor Swift released her debut almost 15 years ago this month.

Can you imagine a music world without Taylor Swift? Love her or hate her, Taylor Swift has revolutionized the music industry breaking records hit after hit. With October being the anniversary of her self-titled debut album, let’s take a road down memory lane.

It’s been 15 years of Taylor Swift music!

Although Taylor had strayed away from the country music that was her origin, her origin was indeed country music. Before she sold out stadiums and won Grammys with mega-hit albums and created singles like “Shake it Off” and “Bad Blood” there was Taylor Swift the album.

Even though I am not a country fan, I remember hearing it make its way onto TRL (Total Request Live) and Taylor gain more attention on mainstream platforms and media. This was the beginning of Taylor’s creative talent recognition as she had sole writing credits on three of the eleven songs and co-credit on the rest.  Although it focused on the teenage perspective of all things such as love and friendship, it found unknown success in the country music scene.

The album had Hot Country Songs number-ones with “Our Song” and “Should’ve Said No”. It also had her first top-15 entry on the Billboard Hot 100, “Teardrops on My Guitar”.

Not only was it nominated for Album of the Year at the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards, but it helped Taylor earn her first Grammy recognition as a nominee in the Best New Artist category.  It ended up topping the US Billboard Top Country Albums charts for 24 weeks.

The achievements, recognitions, and music, have only gotten better. Here is to 15 more years and more of Taylor Swift.
