When Night Breaks is the highly anticipated sequel to Janella Angeles’ debut novel Where Dreams Descend, a lush, romantic tale of a magical showgirl named Kallia who dreams of headling her own act in a world (and industry) that’s historically dominated by men.
She becomes a controversial contestant in a kingdom-wide magic competition, at which she is paired with the infamous Daron Demarco. But when their bond is tested by the competition – and Kallia’s past with the mysterious Jack – things get messy, quickly. And that’s before Kallia finds herself sucked through a magic mirror and lost to the world she knew.
When Night Breaks picks up where its predecessor left off, with Daron desperate to find Kallia and Kallia struggling to navigate the dazzling world of mirrors she now finds herself in – with Jack of all people at her side. Whether she’ll be able to find her way home – or defeat the powerful game master in control of all their lives – is, of course, anyone’s guess.
But either way, the show must go on, right?
