Xbox Live Gold members have had some less than stellar months of games this summer. But now that it’s officially fall, things are looking up for members.

Below are the offerings for October and the dates they’re available to download:

  • Aaero, available October 1 to 31
  • Hover, available October 16 to November 15
  • Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, available October 1 to 15
  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, available October 16 to 31

Xbox Live Gold October 2021 Highlights

Aaero released on the Xbox One in 2017 and is a rhythm action rail shooter, which is definitely a much different offering for Live Gold members. This one is worth checking out solely for the soundtrack and the stylized environments in which you play through. It’s not exactly a Crypt of the Necrodancer kind of game, but it has a similar feel. And really, the soundtrack makes it so much fun.

Hover is your second indie game offered this month, not to be confused with Hover! from Windows 95 PCs. An open world 3D parkour game that released in 2018, Hover takes you to a futuristic city where you fight against an oppressive government who has outlawed fun. It’s not a deep game, but the parkour racing is a lot of fun. Just get past the opening hour or so (it tends to drag a bit).

You can never go wrong with a Castlevania game, really. And what makes Castlevania: Harmony of Despair stand out is that’s it’s a cooperative multiplayer version. Otherwise it’s pretty much your standard run of the mill Castlevania game, borrowing plenty from prior iterations that may make you do a double-take.

Last up is Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, which is the remaster of the 2000 game for the Dreamcast. Taking place three months after Resident Evil 2, you play as Claire Redfield in Paris, searching for her brother Chris. You actually head all the way to Antarctica in this game, too, so if you’re up for taking on zombie hordes across continents, this one is your game for October!

Next. Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will now include N64 games. dark

Don’t forget that one of September’s offeringsMulaka, is available to download through October 15th.
