Comedian and actor Hannibal Buress has unleashed Coach Wilson: Into the Hannibal-Verse
By Erin Lynch
There’s a lot of hype surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home and that includes actors involved in the film like Hannibal Buress. He’s so hyped that he’s involved that he even made a song about it and how his character could be included in more scenes. Trust us, it’s an earworm.
The multi-talented comedian knows for his roles in The Eric Andre Show and Broad City has already made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) gym teacher in Spider-Man: Homecoming. While a small role, he did get a few moments to shine as the oblivious Coach Wilson.
Due to the events of Avengers: Endgame, the sequel to Homecoming (titled Spider-Man: Far From Home in keeping with the “Home” theme) sent the school on a trip to Europe. Sadly, it appears that Coach Wilson was not invited on said trip, so that’s why Buress didn’t return. But he’s back, baby!
Hannibal Buress releases parody song and video about his Spider-Man character Coach Wilson
Buress shared a heavily edited video and song on his social media accounts to celebrate his character’s return. Behold! Coach Wilson: Into the Hannibal-Verse.
The song features lines such as “Two scenes? Maybe three? We’ll see what they keep,” and my personal favorite “You know Marvel, very secretive!”. He just wants to let you know that Coach Wilson is in it, y’all. It also mentions how his scenes were filmed in Atlanta and it was very clean. Why? COVID-19 protocols, of course.
If the lyrics weren’t great on their own, Buress also got English DJ Flux Pavilion to create the beat. It is honestly ridiculous how good the beat is and it’s only amplified with the hilarious lyrics.
I really think this song is going to be stuck in my head for at LEAST the rest of the day. Which wasn’t helped by the fact that I played the song over and over again. It’s just too funny to me.
If Marvel and Sony don’t include this song somewhere in the film, I think we should all riot. It’s too, too good not to be in it. At least be included in the Blu-ray/DVD, right? I want to see Coach Wilson: Into the Hannibal Verse, dangit! Release the Coach Wilson cut!
What do you think of the song? Is it an absolute bop? (Yes, it is). On a scale of one to ten, how excited are you to see Coach Wilson again? Let us know in the comments below.
