There’s nothing like some behind the scenes soap opera drama to liven up your weekend and Hallmark Channel’s all-new Summer Nights original movie is the perfect way to get cozy on the couch on a Saturday night. A Little Daytime Drama stars former soap stars Jen Lilley and Ryan Paevey in a story where the reunion of two exes leads to unexpected complications.

A Little Daytime Drama synopsis

Maggie (Jen Lilley) stands to inherit a daytime soap from Alice (Linda Dano), who plans to retire soon. The show’s ratings are tanking and it needs a shakeup or it could be cancelled. The return of a beloved member of the cast could bring the show the viewers it needs, but there’s a catch. The former cast member, Darin (Ryan Paevey), also happens to be Maggie’s ex-boyfriend.

Darin left the show and never intended to come back, so it’s an uphill battle for Maggie to convince him to return. Can they find a way to work together?

A Little Daytime Drama cast

Jen Lilley starred in both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. She’s well known around the Hallmark Channel and she’s also known for her work raising money and awareness for important causes. Most recently, Lilley’s work on the Christmas Is Not Cancelled campaign raised money to buy backpacks and supplies for foster kids. She also has a podcast, Fostering Hope with Jen Lilley, that helps spread awareness about the foster system.

Ryan Paevey got his start on General Hospital, and during his tenure on the show he started working on Hallmark Channel movies. After five years he has built quite the resume, from Christmas movies to seasonal classics, and he’s showing no signs of stopping. The Southern California native loves the outdoors, and he also makes stunning jewelry as a hobby.

Linda Dano is a One Life to Live alum, and she also won a Lead Actress Emmy for her work on Another World.

How to watch A Little Daytime Drama

A Little Daytime Drama premieres on Saturday, August 21 at 9pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. After the initial premiere, the movie will be available on Hallmark On Demand and it will also be available to watch as part of the channel’s regular programming.
