Fall 2021 release: Horseman: A Tale of Sleepy Hollow- Christina Henry

Is there any better time than Fall to read a story that’s in any way connected to the Legend of Sleepy Hollow? No, no there is not.

Christina Henry’s Horseman is a pseudo-sequel to the classic tale, set twenty years after the infamous events that drove Ichabod Crane out of Sleepy Hollow. Now, the village is a quiet place, and most no longer believe in the Horseman, if they ever did.

But when young Ben Van Brunt – whose grandfather played a role in the original events – discovers the headless body of a child in the woods, and senses the rise of a deadly evil, he starts to wonder. Has the Horseman returned? Or is a new, darker threat rising in the famous small town?

The official synopsis describes the story as follows.

"Everyone in Sleepy Hollow knows about the Horseman, but no one really believes in him. Not even Ben Van Brunt’s grandfather, Brom Bones, who was there when it was said the Horseman chased the upstart Crane out of town. Brom says that’s just legend, the village gossips talking. Twenty years after those storied events, the village is a quiet place. Fourteen-year-old Ben loves to play Sleepy Hollow boys, reenacting the events Brom once lived through. But then Ben and a friend stumble across the headless body of a child in the woods near the village, and the sinister discovery makes Ben question everything the adults in Sleepy Hollow have ever said. Could the Horseman be real after all? Or does something even more sinister stalk the woods?"

Horseman is available on September 28.
