Fans of The Great British Baking Show, get ready: Lucy Parker’s Battle Royal meshes all the excitement of a baking competition with romance, promising to deliver a narrative that’s as sweet and delicious as dessert — and readers are likely to devour it as such.

Parker’s latest pits Sylvie Fairchild and Dominic De Vere against one another in a competition that will determine who bakes the wedding cake for Princess Rose.

It’s not just this rivalry that makes the relationship between these two so interesting, however. Before Sylvie opened her own bakery, she competed on Operation Cake, a baking series akin to The Great British Baking Show. The judge who voted her off of it? None other than Dominic.
