After a long hiatus, Riverdale is back with the second half of its fifth season. When we last left off with Archie and the gang, Hiram had orchestrated a massive prison break to destroy the town and Jughead had disappeared in an apparent alien abduction.

Meanwhile, despite the surprising return of Charles and Chic, Betty was on the hunt for Polly’s (potential) killer and Veronica had her own criminal husband to deal with.

Per IMDB, the synopsis for the midseason premiere, “Chapter Eighty-Seven: Strange Bedfellows” reads:

"In the aftermath of the prison break at Hiram’s jail, Archie leads the charge to round up the remaining convicts on the loose. Tabitha reaches out for Betty’s help when she realizes Jughead is missing."

It looks like we’re going to get more of Action Hero Archie as he continues his mission to clean up his hometown while Tabitha and Betty may become allies in the search for the missing Jughead.

Let’s take a look at what the trailer has in store for the next half of the season:

The trailer reveals a lot of exciting details including the return of Josie McCoy (!) after her departure for the gone-too-soon Katy Keene. There is also a lot of imagery in the trailer (something Riverdale loves to tease) including a painting of Jughead and another Riverdale figure.

The promo also hints at a new plotline for the Blossoms involving a church, an interesting turn for Cheryl and her mother we haven’t seen previously. Needless to say, you’ll have to tune in to find out just what is in store for this season.
