Amazon has finally given us the tiniest sneak peek at their highly anticipated new fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. And we can’t wait to see more!

Based on the long-sprawling fantasy novels by James Oliver Rigney Jr. (pen name Robert Jordan), the show will take us into the mysterious town of Two Rivers in Andor. It’s here where we’ll meet Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai, a group of powerful magic users who just happen to be all women.

Moiraine is trying to figure out who the “Dragon Reborn” is before the Dark One finds them.

The highly popular high fantasy series was initially released on January 15th, 1990 with the novel called The Eye of the World. The series subsequently spanned 14 novels and one prequel, with author Brandon Sanderson completing the last three after Rigney’s untimely death in 2007.

The Amazon adaptation’s six-episode first season is packed to the brim with actors, with newcomers cast in significant roles. It will be really impressive to see the 35 cast members working together in such a short amount of screen time but I think fans are super ready for it.

I’m really looking forward to see how Amazon will bring the nameless world to life. Of course I am 1000% on board for magic being possible and wielded by women. Who doesn’t want to see that, honestly?

Admittedly, the poster reminds me a bit of Outlander, what with the giant stone pillars and a brunette in a cloak but its story will be drastically different. One that may have a fighting chance against Amazon’s other massive fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings.

What do you think about the poster? Are you looking forward to seeing the mini series? Let us know in the comments below.
