As the models walked on water in the resort wear runway, Joshua Scacheri and his vibrant print captivated the judges. After winning the Making the Cut season 2 episode 2 challenge, the talented force behind LOVE HERO spoke to Culturess about his approach to design, the use of bold colors, and sustainability in the fashion space.

After the designers introduced the judges to their brand statement, Making the Cut season 2 episode 2 took on resort wear. Although Joshua’s first look might not have resonated with the judges, his take on resort wear had everyone yearning to pack a bag and travel to the most exotic locale.

During our discussion with Joshua, he simply described resort wear as ”technically going on holidays or on your yacht somewhere.” Still, there is a feeling of effortlessness while looking chic.

In his winning look, there was a lovely balance between structure and flowy elegance. As each model took the runway suspended in the pool, the looks made an impression. More importantly, it made people want to see more.

While his winning look was featured Making the Cut store, it also announced the launch of Joshua’s brand LOVE HERO. Bringing together the ideas of hope, passion, and prosperity, this new brand looks to mold a new conversation on what is possible.

In some ways, viewers of Making of the Cut were given an exciting preview of this brand. As seen in the resort wear challenge, that combination of organic, custom prints with vibrant colors is that flicker of what was to come.

While resort wear can inspire some people to step out of their comfort zone, Joshua believes that “it’s important to play around and not be afraid of color.” In some ways, it is “finding what works for your personality.” Once people begin to “embrace prints” it becomes easier to find that balance.

Although Joshua admitted that a person’s look says something about them, it doesn’t have to be limiting. For him, he believes that “color doesn’t date,” more importantly, “it is something that enriches.” Specifically, he said, people just “need to embrace it.”

Even as he shares his concepts with others, Joshua believes that it is important to stay true to his vision. As seen with the commentary differences between Making the Cut season 2 episode 1 and 2, the judges had different reactions to his two looks.

Still, Joshua said “you play to your strengths. but you can’t please everyone in the world, you know as a designer you put yourself out there, you’re going to be people who are going to like the stuff and get people don’t like this stuff. But, you’ve got to stick true to yourself and really, be a visionary. Look at all the great designs in the world, they’ve done what they wanted to do. They’ve made a stamp in the world because they stuck to their guns.”

While having a winning look sold in the Amazon Making the Cut store is a big step, his brand LOVE HERO is his passion project. With this launch, people will see those vibrant colors and prints but also there is a message in what he does. More importantly, he hopes to “engage with and push the sustainability message.”

As people scan the closet looking for the next great piece to add, Joshua Scacheri hopes that one of his signature looks can elevate those ordinary trousers or jacket. More importantly, that piece will stand as a reminder to stand up for what you believe in and protect what is important in your world.
