The Christmas House

Cast: Robert Buckley, Jonathan Bennett, Treat Williams, Sharon Lawrence, Ana Ayora, Brad Harder

Year: 2020

The Mitchell family has long been known in their community for putting together the “Christmas House”. Their home transforms from everyday to something magical as the entire home becomes a majestic winter wonderland.

The future of the Christmas House is uncertain as parents Phylis (Sharon Lawrence) and Bill (Treat Williams) consider making this the final year of the holiday tradition. Their sons Mike and Brandon have their own lives to consider. Mike (Robert Buckley) is a TV star and Brandon (Jonathan Bennett) and his husband Jake (Brad Harder) are focused on starting a family.

When they learn the future of the tradition is in jeopardy they all come together to find a solution. While Brandon and Jake await news on their pending adoption, Mike rekindles his romance with his high school girlfriend, Andi.

The Christmas House is the first Hallmark movie to feature an openly gay couple as main characters. The story is unlike most movies on the network as Phylis and Bill struggle in their relationship and consider selling the house to move forward. It’s not traditional but it’s a big step in inclusive holiday movies that represent a variety of families and family units.
