Are you ready to ROCK?! Thor: Love and Thunder only finished filming at the beginning of June this year and director Taika Waititi is already hyping it up. Talking with The Hollywood Reporter, the New Zealand native said that the film was in quite simple terms, “crazy”.

After reviving the Thor franchise in such a spectacular way, Marvel appears to have let Waititi have free reign to do whatever he wants to. Which is going to be the best for fans, really. He elaborated on his comments, explaining that “if you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense”.

Well, we all saw Thor: Ragnarok and we know that he can expertly weave weird into the fabric of the film. Frankly, I still can’t get over watching Bruce Banner face plant onto the rainbow bridge.

The director and writer continued. “It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people”.

That last bit gives pause to any Marvel fan. So get your speculation hats on because who would be the weirdest and crazy character to add into the MCU. We already had Ego, the living planet, how can that be topped? What about the horse-headed alien that wields Thor’s hammer?

To clarify, we learned at Comic-Con in 2019 that Jane Foster, thankfully being reprised by Natalie Portman, will be Thor in this film. Likely following or inspired by the comic run by Jason Aaron where a terminally ill Jane becomes The Mighty Thor and wields Mjolnir, defending the universe. So she will be worthy, never you worry. However, there’s one character that really comes to mind for the term “crazy”.

Beta Ray Bill. The horse-headed alien who has been worthy to wield Mjolnir and become Thor in his own right. First appearing in Thor #337 in August of 1983, he became the champion of his people, the Korbinites, and underwent the process of becoming cybernetic. He battled the demons across the galaxy that Surtur had sent to finish them off and wound up facing off with Thor Odinson. In the confusion, Beta Ray Bill picked up Mjolnir and gained the powers of Thor.

We’ve had completely CGI characters before that are kind of crazy, right? Rocket Raccoon is literally a raccoon with anger issues. Groot is a sentient tree that only says “I Am Groot”. Korg (acted and voiced by Waititi) is a Kiwi-accented alien made of rocks. So why would a horse-headed alien be crazy? Well, in relation to Waititi’s further comments about how the film will have “far more emotion” and a “lot of love”, it is incredibly strange to think of Beta Ray Bill playing into the emotion of the film. I mean have you seen the character?

Looking again at the cast list, it is pretty easy to see how this can end up devolving into one heck of a nutty movie. The Guardians are there, Jeff Goldblum’s zany Grandmaster is back, Christian Bale is playing a God-killing alien and Russell Crowe is cameoing as Zeus. We’re involving the Greek gods now too? Let’s just take Waititi at his word that somehow he got all of these parts to work together. We can trust him, right?

Another fun surprise could be Loki making his way into the film. He’s not on the cast list but you never know with the trickster god. Plus he could be done with bringing down the TVA at that point. (If that’s how the television series ends, who the heck knows how that show will finish up).

Next. The Loki premiere sucks the fun out of its protagonist and its premise. dark

Who do you think will be in the film? Which character are you the most excited to see? (if the answer isn’t Jane Foster as Thor, you’re wrong). Let us know what you think down in the comments!
