Waiting for more Loki? Watch these Tom Hiddleston movies
Watch Tom Hiddleston in: Midnight in Paris (2011)
You might not remember that Loki isn’t the first time that Hiddleston and Owen Wilson (who plays Agent Mobius in the Disney+ series) have appeared on screen together. Ten years before the television series started, they were both in Midnight in Paris, a film (unfortunately) written and directed by Woody Allen.
A writer named Gil, played by Wilson, is on vacation in Paris with his materialistic fiancée (Rachel McAdams, who also appeared in the MCU in Doctor Strange) and her parents. Each night at midnight, he mysteriously travels back in time to Paris in the 1920s where he meets lots of now-famous artists, authors, and musicians of the “Lost Generation” like Cole Porter and Ernest Hemingway.
He eventually falls for a woman in the past, played by Marion Cotillard, which makes him realize the ways in which his present relationship will never work.
Hiddleston looks dapper as famous author F. Scott Fitzgerald, whose novel The Great Gatsby you probably read in school. While it’s a small role, the film does briefly delve into the issues in his relationship with his wife Zelda Fitzgerald (Alison Pill). His great chemistry with Wilson is a preview of the amazing banter we’re currently seeing on Loki.
