X-Men: Daisy Ridley suits up as Rogue in stunning image
By Cody Schultz
Fans are eager to see the X-Men join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this image of Daisy Ridley in the role of Rogue has us eager to see her join the MCU.
With the rights to the characters back in Marvel’s hands, it’s only a matter of time before the X-Men make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — after all, you don’t acquire some of the most beloved characters in comic book history only to let them sit on the sidelines.
Although Marvel has not yet confirmed the timeline for when the X-Men will make their MCU debuts, there are already rumors circulating that Marvel could be developing projects built around some of the franchise’s biggest characters — namely Wolverine.
While Wolverine has been a large talking point for many fans, understandably so, there are many other characters fans are just as excited to see make their MCU debut including one who was left by the wayside in the X-Men franchise’s most recent franchise: Rogue.
Sans a brief appearance from Anna Paquin in 2014’s X: Men: Days of Future Past, the fiery self-described Southern belle was glaringly missing when 20th Century Fox rebooted the franchise in 2011. However, we don’t imagine Marvel will make that same mistake, especially considering her popularity among fans.
There are many actresses who could play Rogue, but after seeing Star Wars alum Daisy Ridley suit up as Rogue it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the character in the MCU when the time finally comes for her MCU debut!
What Daisy Ridley could look like as Rogue from X-Men in the MCU
Inspired by the X-Men’s looming arrival in the MCU, digital artist m.design34 took to Instagram to share their rendition of what Rogue could look like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Daisy Ridley in the role.
In the stunning new art, Ridley trades in Rey’s lightsaber and beige getup for a Rogue mashup of sorts which seems to blend together some of the character’s various iconic comic book looks. Clearly inspired by Jim Lee and Chris Bachalo’s iconic spins on the character, Ridley transforms into Rogue complete with a green-hued leather jacket and matching headband and the character’s iconic brown and white hairstyle.
After seeing a more toned-down Rogue in the original X-Men film franchise, fans are definitely hopeful Marvel’s take on the character might be truer to her comic book counterpart both in look and in personality. Rogue is such a fun character with a big and bold personality (and style) which was missing from the character’s previous live-action portrayal.
Ridley is no stranger to leading big-budget franchises as evident with her turn as Rey in Star Wars and as the artist’s fanart show’s she definitely could capture the character’s essence both in look and with what would undoubtedly be an incredible performance.
Is Daisy Ridley joining the MCU?
Now that we’ve established how incredible Daisy Ridley could be in the role of Rogue within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what exactly are the odds she might be interested in making the jump from Star Wars to Marvel with a role in the MCU?
First, it’s important to note that Marvel has not yet announced any X-Men projects and therefore has not revealed any casting decisions regarding which actors will be playing the franchise’s most iconic heroes. As such, it’s uncertain whether Ridley is even on the radar of the casting department at Marvel Studios for a potential role within the MCU.
While Ridley is not currently attached to the role of Rogue or any Marvel character for that matter, she is very much aware of fans’ desire to see her join the MCU!
In addition to Rogue, there has been a lot of buzz about Ridley playing another Marvel hero in Spider-Woman and that buzz has very much made its way back to Ridley. Although she’s confessed to not being connected to any Marvel role, she’s more than open to the idea of joining the MCU should an opportunity present itself.
As Ridley revealed in an interview with The Direct:
"“Basically, should something come along and be great, of course, I’d be open to anything. I just finished WandaVision. What they did with it is so amazing and different and interesting. To be particularly in that world, which is ever-shifting and reimagining itself would be very exciting.”"
Clearly, Ridley is game for joining the MCU should an opportunity present itself and we can only hope that Marvel takes notice of that interest soon. No matter whether she plays Rogue or another character of Marvel’s choice, there’s no denying she’d be a great addition to the MCU!
