Aquaman 2 has an official title and it looks like we are about to search for a Lost Kingdom
We finally have a title for the Aquaman sequel and it is pretty exciting. With a name that hints at an epic undersea adventure we can’t wait.
Thanks to James Wan sharing a production meeting image to his social media followers, we now know that Aquaman 2 will officially be titled, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. And if that doesn’t scream must watch, I don’t know what will.
Why are we so excited about this title? If you were really paying attention in the first movie, then you likely remember the history of Atlantis was quickly revealed. One of the key facts we learned was that when Atlantis crumbled, it actually broke apart into seven kingdoms. But of those seven kingdoms only four were said to have thrived.
Even still, there was one kingdom that was virtually ignored, even in the glossing over of history that we received. As Entertainment Weekly points out, it is thanks to Orm that we even know about the seventh kingdom, and all he really tells us is that it was kingdom that just vanished.
Aquaman 2 finally has a title and it is setting us up for another epic adventure with a history lesson
Beyond the fact that it is said to have vanished, little else seems to be known about this seventh kingdom, and yet now that we know the title of the next movie is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it looks like we are about to learn every bit of this kingdom’s history and what really happened to it.
And we can’t wait. Of course, we aren’t alone in our excitement, as Patrick Wilson, who plays Orm chimed in on Wan’s post with a message that simply reads, “Let me out. I’ll find it.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but considering I want more of Orm in my life, I am actually hoping he is involved in this expedition to find a lost kingdom. And since it is said that Wilson is back in the sequel, we can’t wait to see what kind of trouble he is able to get into while on the hunt for the seventh kingdom of Atlantis.
Considering the sequel is not set to hit theaters until Dec. 16, 2022, it will be some time before we really learn the truth of the Lost Kingdom and even what this means for our hero and his people. But we are pretty excited to have this tease of the future. And if that means we start doing our own digging, well that’s why we love comics.
