The upcoming Shazam! sequel, titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods, won’t hit movie theaters for two years yet – on June 2, 2023 – but we’ve already got our first look at the new costume for Zachary Levi’s titular hero.

Sort of.

Giving an entirely new meaning to the word teaser, director David F. Sandberg has posted the briefest of clips for the upcoming film, which gives us a blink and you’ll miss it glimpse of the new Shazam suit, including the outfit’s boots, gloves, and chest plate.

What makes this new clip a ton of fun is how it teases the changes to the new suit but still keeps the whole thing totally hidden from view at the same time. (And makes a joke about doing so.) Though dedicated fans already know what the suit will look like given the leaked set photos that surfaced earlier this week, it still will be interesting to see what the final product entails, as the images show special markers on the suit that give reference to the VFX that will be added in post-production. A similar technique was used in Justice League for Henry Cavill’s Superman cape.

There is very little information on what the Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be about but we do know that Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren will play Kalypso and Hespera, two of three daughters of Atlas, who may or may not be the film’s villains.

We also know that Billy’s foster family will be involved in the film as there was a photo released of the group together. Djimon Hounsou will return to his role as the Wizard Shazam though it is unclear how this will happen as the character died in the previous film.
