Embody technically launched Immerse Gaming last year as the world’s only AI-assisted spacial audio PC gaming software. It was so successful that the company creative Hive, which allows the software to be used with almost every kind of gaming headset.

Hive has some of the biggest brands of headphones already built into its software, including Audeze, Razer, and HyperX. You even take a photo of your ear so the system maps out the best spacial audio that will work for you.

When I tried it out, they didn’t have my Astro headset pre-loaded, but they do have a preset for any over-the-ear headphones, and it still worked really well. It made me feel like I had 3D audio, able to hear things happening behind me in the game (I tried it out with Borderlands).

But the software doesn’t just start and end with enhancing your audial experience. With the audio software, you have your choice of game genre presets—what will work best for FPS (Immerse Mode) versus MMORPG (Awaken Mode) versus racing (Close Combat Mode). Embody has thought of everything.

This includes a sonar map, which is a semi-transparent overlay of the software that gives you visual confirmation of where the source of sounds are at. It’s honestly a really cool addition. Check out the video below for a look at the different modes with some in-game play:

The only thing that was a little difficult for me was getting the software set up in-game through Steam. It took me a few tries of adjusting the sound sources on my laptop before it came through correctly. But once I had it set up, it ran as smooth as can be. And the overlay map is an optional feature; you don’t have to use it if it’s too distracting.

Hive is compatible with all PC games and if you’re a streamer on Twitch, you can add it in there as well. Honestly, if you don’t have a set of headphones that has built-in 3D audio, the Hive software is a great way to get it and not drop an insane amount of money on a new set of headphones.
