PlayStation Plus members always are in for a treat when new games are announced, even if that State of Play for Horizon: Forbidden West keeps distracting you.

Still! You have a full month to play the brand new offerings, and you still have some time to wait on Horizon Forbidden West.

Below are your free games for the month of June:

  • Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown
  • Star Wars: Squadrons

Here’s the official announcement trailer from Sony:

If you own a PlayStation 5, you’ll have access on day one to the PS5 version of Operation: Tango. Originally released for the PS4 last August, you play as either a hacker or an agent online with a friend to overcome challenges. The even bigger challenge? You only have your voice to communicate. Thank goodness those new controllers have built-in microphones.

For the non-PS5 owners, your first game this month is Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown. Like Operation: Tango, this is a remake that’s launching on day one, June 1st. And it’s available until Monday, August 2nd. It’s a classic 3D fighter game that released in Japan in 2007.

Honestly, there’s not much else to say about it. If you’re a fan of fighter games and want to see an updated take on this game (new updated graphics, new user interface, new music, and online features!), you’ll want to download this one and check it out during the two-month window.

Second is Star Wars: Squadron, which originally released on October 2, 2020, so not that long ago. The single player campaign lets you play as both a member of the Empire and of the New Republic, so if you’ve always wanted to fly both an X-Wing and a TIE fighter, you’re in luck!

Taking place after the events of Return of the Jedi, you can play the single player campaign or try your luck in PVP. Or if you’re super fancy and have a VR headset, you can play the whole thing that way, too! As you level up and gain experience, you can unlock new customizations for your ship, anything from cosmetic upgrades to powering up your weapons, shields, and engines.
