Summer TV: Physical

Platform: Apple TV+

Release Date: June 18

Cast: Rose Byrne, Dierdre Friel, Rory Scovel, Ian Gomez, Ashley Liao

Premise: Rose Byrne headlines this Apple TV+ dramedy about a quietly tortured 1980s housewife who finds an unorthodox path to empowerment through an odd source: the world of aerobics. The project comes from Annie Weisman, creator of Almost Family, and Dirty John showrunner Alexandra Cunningham. This marks Byrne’s first series regular role in a series since her breakout performance on FX’s Damages with Glenn Close.

Hot on the heels of 80s-centric GLOW on Netflix, Physical keeps the same aesthetic, big hair and all. The darkly comedic series will consist of ten half-hour episodes, with the first three debuting on Apple TV+ on the 18th. Each remaining episode will air every Friday following the premiere.
