Summer TV: The Bold Type

Platform: Freeform

Release Date: May 26

Cast: Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy, Melora Hardin, Stephen Conrad Moore

Premise: In the show’s fifth and final season, besties Jane (Stevens), Kat (Dee), and Sutton (Fahy) are back for one more round of relationship drama and fashion closet gossip. Per the show’s season 5 trailer, it appears as though the trio will finally be living together, still helping each other through the ups and downs of their careers and love lives. Speaking of love lives, it looks like both Richard (Sam Page) and Adena (Nikohl Boosheri) will be returning for a limited number of episodes–could this mean that two of our favorite couples are rekindling their romance?

Season four had the show’s fandom divided, as some of the actions of main players Kat and Sutton seemed very out of character. This included Kat going against her beliefs and getting involved with a super politically conservative lesbian, and Sutton falling back into old habits of getting drunk and sleeping with an ex-boyfriend after having a fight with Richard. Like many shows, production on season four ended prematurely, so we’ll never know if there was any planned course correction worked into those final episodes.

While we’re sad that the flashy feminist series is ending, we’re so glad that we get six more episodes to see our girls off into the sunset.
