Summer 2021 is basically going to be an embarrassment of riches when it comes to science-fiction and fantasy books. Thanks to a multitude of delayed and rescheduled release dates, you won’t be able to pass by a new release table at your local bookstore over the next few months without tripping over one incredible story or another. And there are so many great options,

There are so many great choices it was actually difficult to limit this list to just 21 entries. Thankfully, as the weather turns warmer and more people get vaccinated (yay!), we’ll be able to finally sit poolside with a drink and a good book and feel something vaguely like normal again. Okay, maybe not normal, but closer than we’ve been in a long, long time.

And every one of these choices is a straight banger.

From exciting debuts (Hannah Whitten’s For the Wolf) to thrilling new releases from established authors (Tasha Suri’s The Jasmine Throne, Grady Hendrix’s The Final Girl Support Group), and highly anticipated sequels (Susan Dennard’s Witchshadow, Romina Garber’s Cazadora), there’s just so much good stuff headed our way over the next few months. Every kind of sci-fi and fantasy fan will find something to love here.

What sci-fi and fantasy book releases are worth your time this summer?
