These interactive elements were almost part of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
At Disney Parks, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge continues to be one of the most popular areas. From people who get their coveted pass to ride Rise of the Resistance to mastering piloting skills on the Millennium Falcon, the reality is that this highly immersive experience encompasses every nuanced detail. From the fleck of perfectly placed rust to the cast members who have assumed their part, everything feels as if there is a whole new galaxy just steps away from the Disney Parks.
While Star War’s Galaxy Edge feels almost perfect as it is, the book “The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” reveals some interesting ideas that didn’t make it into the final concept. Even though many Disney projects find a way to turn the ambitious into reality, the truth is that some concepts are a little hard to translate from the page to real life.
As shared by the Orlando Sentinel, some ideas that sound amazing in concept are difficult to accomplish in a natural way. For example, there was the idea to have a bounty hunter chase ride and a bike chase. Although those concepts would bring thrilling adventure, they might not be fully accessible for all guests.
Was there a new character coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge?
Even more interesting is the concept of a “therii named Elee.” According to the reports, Elee would be a “big beast” who would roam around the land. Guests could interact with the animal. From simply petting to even riding her, it would have been a totally unique experience for the Disney guest.
But, implementing this concept was nearly impossible. Being able to bring this creature to life is more difficult than other Disney characters. In order to make her as authentic as possible, it would need to have open spaces and the ability to roam.
Given the sometimes narrow pathways and usually larger crowds, an interactive animal that wanders around doesn’t necessarily seem feasible. Even though Disney has many characters throughout the park, this concept is different. While people might give Mickey a hug, they do not jump on his back for a ride.
Throughout the book, there are various facts and pictures that will make a Star Wars fan want to revisit Galaxy’s Edge. Even if the original speakeasy will never serve guests a cocktail, the reality is that Oga’s Cantina always delivers a memorable meal. And everywhere people turn, there are magical memories to be made.
Although some people might wish that a few of these fantastical options would have become part of the Star Wars reality, the truth is that technology might not be at the point. But, the time is coming. From real lightsaber battles to a Star Wars hotel, the line between reality and imagination is starting to blur.
