Believe it: Ted Lasso season 2 arrives in July, just when we need it most
By Lacy Baugher
In a world that’s desperate for some hope and good news, Apple TV+ is here to save the day with the announcement that the second season of incredible feel-good comedy series Ted Lasso is coming – and sooner than many of us expected.
Season 2 of the award-winning series, which stars Jason Sudeikis as the eponymous bumbling American coach of a struggling British football club, will debut on July 23. The premiere date was announced during Apple’s latest spring event, where the company announced a stream of cool new technology and gadgets. (A purple iPhone!) And if the teaser for the series’ return is anything to go by, Ted Lasso season 2 is exactly what we all need right now.
“This year, kindness makes a comeback,” the trailer for season 2 announces. And if there’s a better message for 2021, I don’t know what is.
Much like the first season, it seems that football club AFC Richmond is still a plucky underdog, though at least they appear to be tying more games than outright losing at this point. The status of several team members is up in the air – though we see Roy Kent multiple times in this clip, it’s not on the field and there’s no sign of Jamie Tart. But it does look like Dani Rojas will finally take center stage this time around.
Watch for yourselves below.
I mean, look at that – there’s so much to get excited about. Roy has grown a beard! So. Much. Dani Rojas! Even more homemade Ted Lasso biscuits! Does discussing dating issues with Ted make Rebecca officially part of the Diamond Dogs now? Trent Crimm (The Independent) is in the pressroom! There’s even a New York Jets joke!
These are all things I need and have desperately missed in my life, is what I’m saying, and I feel both spoiled and joyful. I’m sure I”m not the only person counting down the days till July.
