The Powerpuff Girls: Chloe Bennet suits up as Blossom in stunning new image

Fans are anxious to see Chloe Bennet take on the role of Blossom in The CW’s The Powerpuff Girls and it’s easy to see why.

The CW has become known for bringing iconic and beloved characters from comics, animation, and books to life through an adult lens. Shows such as Riverdale and Nancy Drew are prime examples of how the network has brought beloved characters to life on the small screen for a new generation, often through a much more adult and mature lens. After all, Archie of Riverdale is far from the Archie comic readers know… and a bit more easy on the eyes too.

Perhaps, it’s for this reason, there is so much buzz surrounding the network’s live-action adaptation of the beloved animated series The Powerpuff Girls!

The CW’s adaptation of the classic 90s animated series will look to put a more dramatic spin on the franchise by aging up the characters with the show’s versions of Blossom, Bubble, and Buttercup now in their 20s. Per the show’s logline, the heroes “now resent having lost their childhood to that are faced with the choice of reuniting now that the world needs them more than ever.”

Aside from the released plotline, little is known about the show aside from the cast which includes several beloved stars including former Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennet, in what will be her first regular role since her turn as Quake in the Marvel drama.

A fan-favorite for the role, fans have been eager to see Bennet finally suit up as the team’s loveable leader Blossom. And now thanks to leaked photos from the set of The CW’s new drama, we know what that could look like.

What Chloe Bennet could look like as Blossom in The Powerpuff Girls

With The CW moving ahead with the series, production on The Powerpuff Girls season has finally begun and eagle-eyed fans were quick to take notice leading to the release of several amazing images of Chloe Bennet in costume as Blossom. In the photos snapped from the set, Bennet channels the team’s leader in full costume inspired by the animated series on which the show is based on.

Much like her animated counterpart, Bennet dons a pink dress, black belt, knee-high white socks, and the character’s signature red bow. The photos also offer up our first look at Bennet preparing to take flight as Blossom with help from an elaborate harness and rig set up, not unlike those used to help fellow CW heroes such as Supergirl take to the skies.

There is no denying The CW has paid direct homage to The Powerpuff Girls animated series in crafting Blossom and her sisters’ wardrobe; however, it’s going to be interesting to see if the classic costumes will stick around or if we’ll see the characters eventually adopt more modern costumes.
