The Circle season 2 trailer promises a game of twists and turns
By Lacy Baugher
The first trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Netflix reality competition The Circle is here (crying emoji heart emoji screaming emoji) and it looks as though the popular social media game will be more exciting than ever this time around. And it’s arriving even sooner than many of us expected.
The Circle’s second outing will officially premiere on Wednesday, April 14. The show follows a group of contestants, each of whom is isolated within their own apartment and only allowed to communicate with each other via the titular Circle, a computer program that’s basically a social media app. The contestants compete to become “influencers” – a.k.a. be voted most popular by the rest of the group – so that they can block a fellow contestant from the app, thus eliminating them from the game. Whether or not contestants decide to play as themselves or create new identities that they feel may win more people to their side is up to them.
Season 2 will feature eight new contestants, including Chloe Veitch from Season 1 of Netflix’s other popular reality show, Too Hot To Handle. (Though who knows whether any of the other contestants will believe she’s actually who she says she is.)
It will also be released in weekly four-episode batches, in the hopes that this unique streaming strategy (also used by Too Hot to Handle) will allow fans to more easily digest and discuss the season with friends.

The season 2 trailer promises that the game will be “more strategic than ever” this time around. What that means isn’t exactly clear, but since season 1 turned out to be a lot less cutthroat than many of us expected, it’s likely that Netflix is trying to shake things up a bit to generate more drama.
Which, let’s hope it’s not too much drama. The show’s surprisingly wholesome vibes and genuine friendships that developed between season 1’s cast helped The Circle stand out from the pack of petty, backstabbing reality competitions.
