Last week’s Riverdale saw a turning point for multiple characters as Betty grappled with the likely truth of what happened to her sister after a DNA sample came back matching Polly’s.

While Betty chose to lie to her mom and allow her to hope for a bit longer, she took a turn for the darker side, reuniting with Jughead to investigate possible answers. But Betty wasn’t able to outrun the truth for long when her FBI partner Glen showed up in Riverdale to deliver the actual news to Alice.

Meanwhile, Archie and Veronica also fell back into a familiar rhythm as well, with Archie coaching the struggling Bulldogs against the much stronger Stonewall football team, backed by none other than Hiram Lodge, of course.

Between missing girls and mothmen, there is a lot happening in Riverdale this season. Let’s find out what’s in store for tonight’s midseason finale.

According to IMDB, the official synopsis for “Chapter Eighty-Six: The Pincushion Man” reads:

"While preparing for the school’s Parent-Teacher night, Archie is caught off guard when his former Army General shows up in Riverdale with some unexpected news. Betty and Alice receive some unexpected visitors."

As shown in the preview above, Hiram doesn’t appear to be slowing down his over-the-top supervillain antics anytime soon. If the preview is as it appears, Hiram will be planting some sort of bomb, making for an explosive midseason finale.

While Archie was initially sent to Riverdale to reengage their ROTC program, he has since taken on two other roles (football coach and volunteer firefighter). It’s no surprise the Army would be paying him a visit to check up on his progress. How that will work out for him will remain to be seen.

We can also assume there will be more drama and strife between Betty and Alice after the multiple bombshells dropped in last week’s episode. As Betty is dead set on finding her sister’s attacker, Alice will likely find her own path to vengeance and grief.

As for what truly happened to Polly? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
