March 2021 book release: The Stolen Kingdom –  Jillian Boehme

Jillian Boehme’s sophomore novel is a YA fantasy full of dark magic, court intrigue, and forbidden love – where nothing is quite as it seems.

The Stolen Kingdom follows a story of stolen magic in the kingdom of Perin Faye. There, the throne is welded to dark magic that was stolen over a century ago, a choice that plagued the land with the Black Death and brought suffering ever since.

The story shifts between two perspectives, Prince Alac, the spare in the Thurngrove dynasty, and Maralyth Graylearn, a commoner with a secret heritage and magical abilities she must conceal. The pair are thrown together when Mara is drawn into a plot to assassinate the king and rule as the legitimate heir to Perin Faye herself, And as their attraction grows they’ll have to do the impossible to escape Alac’s dark family legacy.

The official synopsis has a few more details.

"For a hundred years, the once-prosperous kingdom of Perin Faye has suffered under the rule of the greedy and power-hungry Thungrave kings. Maralyth Graylaern, a vintner’s daughter, has no idea her hidden magical power is proof of a secret bloodline and claim to the throne. Alac Thungrave, the king’s second son, has always been uncomfortable with his position as the spare heir—and the dark, stolen magic that comes with ruling. When Maralyth becomes embroiled in a plot to murder the royal family and seize the throne, a cat-and-mouse chase ensues in an adventure of dark magic, court intrigue, and forbidden love."

The Stolen Kingdom is available on March 2.
