Last week’s episode of Riverdale gave us the first glimpse into the show’s new era after a seven-year time jump. After spending time in the Army, Archie came back home to find his beloved hometown was not as he last left it.

With Toni reigning as Serpent Queen there to show him what all has changed and what needs saving, Archie calls his old friends back to town to help, bringing the core four back together after seven long years.

There are still plenty of mysteries ahead and questions to answer about what has happened over the last seven years. Let’s find out what’s in store with this week’s episode.

According to IMDB, the official synopsis for “Chapter Eighty-One: The Homecoming” reads:

"Toni, Alice, Archie and Kevin fight to keep Riverdale High open after learning that its budget has been cut; Veronica gets creative when she discovers Chad is having her followed; Jughead starts a new job after debt collectors show up."

We know that Hiram Lodge is still at the center of much of the evil happening in Riverdale. While Toni walked Archie through the broad ways in which Hiram has gained new ground in Riverdale, we’ve yet to really see the intricacies of this up close, including Reggie as Hiram’s right-hand man.

It appears we’ll also get to see more of the new Betty, in her role as FBI trainee, as she works with her (former) friends to tackle the corruption in Riverdale head on. We also get the return of Alice in the new timeline.

Based on the synopsis, we know that there’s more drama and intrigue with Veronica and Jughead, too, and surely with the rest of Riverdale, too.
