Trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League teases darker story, better villains
We’ve been hearing about Zack Snyder’s Justice League for years now, first with fans calling for Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut of the 2018 film, and then with the studio finally agreeing to do so on HBO Max. And the streamer has wasted no time hyping up Snyder’s four-hour movie, releasing teaser after teaser and building excitement with events like DC FanDome last year.
And on February 14, DCEU fans finally got the gift they’ve been waiting for: the full-length trailer for the Snyder Cut. Some of the footage from this official look at the film has appeared in previous promos, but there was also plenty of new footage to enjoy.
The trailer promises a very different film than the Justice League that hit theaters back in 2018, and for most fans, that’s a good thing. Not only does Snyder’s take on this story seem darker than the previous rendition, but it will include much-anticipated villains missing from the movie’s first go-round.

What the trailer tells us about Zack Snyder’s Justice League
Most of the promo footage for the Snyder Cut has focused on Darkseid, the major villain of Justice League who was, sadly, cut from the original version of the movie. Darkseid is one of the most beloved DC villains out there, so fans have been excited to see him front and center in Snyder’s cut of the movie. And the new trailer continues to put the spotlight on Darkseid, along with Steppenwolf and DeSaad.
Among the new footage is also a scene featuring Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker, another moment missing from the original film, and one that Snyder himself previewed last week. It’ll be interesting to see what role the Joker plays in this version of Justice League and if it could tie the film into The Suicide Squad at all.
As far as plot details, the new trailer doesn’t reveal much about the movie’s narrative that we didn’t already know. Although Snyder has suggested that there will be some major variations in the actual story of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it’s unclear from the released footage alone what those will be.
Luckily, fans won’t need to wait long to find out how this director’s cut differs from the original film. Zack Snyder’s Justice League debuts on HBO Max on March 18.
