What does the future hold for the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
Everything is a bit up in the air right now in the world but what does the future hold for the Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Will the show return?
Right now, Broadway is still shut down so what does that mean for the future of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Who knows. The show was running on Broadway when theaters began closing down and, as of now, the show is still set to return but it also comes at a time when the show itself is tainted by Rowling’s remarks.
The cast and crew behind Cursed Child have made it clear that they stand with the trans community and are supporters of those that Rowling has spoken against but still, does the show benefit Rowling by being a hit? Is the name Harry Potter enough to continue to allow her success?
Apart from that, the show does have to come back from more than a year off and resume performances. Which isn’t easy to do. They’d have to do rehearsals, relearn their parts, and there will probably have to be some recasting because the cast would have gotten older.
So, what is to happen? No one really knows. The show, which is a two-part series on Broadway, was a success and a huge tourist attraction for fans but that doesn’t mean that many will want to instantly return to a theater two nights in a row (or all day long) when we’re able to return to Broadway.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the future of Cursed Child.
