The Flossy Posse (Girls Trip)

The fabulous quartet known as the Flossy Posse consists of four female friends who met in college and remained close on and off through adulthood. The story centers around Ryan Pierce (Regina Hall), a successful lifestyle guru; Sasha Franklin (Queen Latifah), an internet gossip reporter; Lisa Cooper (Jada Pinkett Smith) a nurse and mother; and Dina (Tiffany Haddish), the boisterous free spirit.

While we get to see the friends grow up, we see them eventually become more and more distant as each year passes. That is, until Ryan is asked to be the keynote speaker at New Orleans’ Essence Music Festival and seizes the opportunity to reunite everyone for a girls’ trip. As the group descends on New Orleans, old grudges come to the surface, threatening to break their friendship apart forever.

The Flossy Posse is the kind of girl group we all need. Each member unique in their own way, but still supported by each other no matter what. This is technically a comedy, but there are some real life lessons to be learned about letting the people who care about you most remind you about who you really are — and also that, no matter what, your girls have your back.

Girls Trip also broke ground, becoming the first time a movie written by Black female screenwriters — Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver — crossed the $100 million mark at the box office. A sequel is currently in development, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the Flossy Posse.
