Amy, Kiki, & Carla (Bad Moms franchise)

Motherhood is hard. That’s why it’s good to have other mom friends who understand what it’s like. In Bad Moms, Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) is a dutiful mother trying to keep her family together, but she has had enough of the inane rules that mothers are supposed to follow in order to keep everything perfect in their lives. Fed up with unreasonable expectations and responsibilities, she launches a rebellion against the Stepford moms of her Chicago suburb. She’s joined by Kiki (Kristen Bell), an exhausted stay-at-home mom of four, and Carla (Kathryn Hahn), the laid-back, sexually active single mom.

Amy, Kiki, and Carla unify against the domineering PTA and husbands in their lives and start doing motherhood their own way. However, this initially backfires, as Amy’s new attitude draws the ire of Alpha PTA member, Gwendolyn (Christina Applegate), who resorts to sneaky shenanigans to regain order in the land of PTA. Eventually, the “Bad Moms” stand their ground, demanding the respect that they deserve and returning to the families who have learned to appreciate them.

A sequel, titled A Bad Moms Christmas, has Bell, Kunis, and Hahn reprising their roles, with Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines, and Susan Sarandon playing the mothers of Amy, Kiki, and Carla, respectively. The franchise has been so successful that a third sequel was given the green light. This time, the film would revolve around the characters portrayed by Baranski, Hines, and Sarandon.
