We love to see women supporting other women, so we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite female friendships from film over the past decade.

Female friendships have long been the backbone of the film industry, so we’re taking a look at some of our favorite women who have stood by each other in various films throughout the past decade.

In real life, our friend group is like a family; there’s usually the sensible and motherly one, the wild child, the perfectionist, the free spirit, and the smart one. Whoever these people may be, they help us move through life a bit more easily. The same can be said about female friendships in Hollywood films. Some classic friendships that have stood the test of time include the ladies of Steel Magnolias and Waiting to Exhale, as well as best buds like Thelma and Louise or Romy and Michele.

Female friendships that are portrayed in Hollywood films can often mimic real-life relationships, though usually with an added dose of drama thrown in. However, this doesn’t diminish the importance of having a best friend or a girlfriend group to celebrate the joys in life with, as well as the hard parts.

Every now and again, the chemistry between actresses is so real that their friendship shines through their portrayals, making the friendship seem even more genuine and relatable. From working together to save an alien race to helping a friend through a bad breakup, these are some of our favorite female friendships in film from the past decade.
