Last week’s episode of Riverdale was the final chapter of The CW series as we know it. As Archie and the gang graduated high school and moved on to life after Riverdale High, we got our first glimpse at the show’s evolution in the upcoming seven-year time jump

While the core four made a new vow to meet every day each year at Pop’s, we soon learned Jughead was the only one who kept the promise. With so much possibility in the new timeline, let’s see what’s in store for this week’s Riverdale.

According to IMDB, the official synopsis for “Chapter Eighty: Purgatorio” reads:

"After spending seven years away from Riverdale, Archie returns to find the town is now under Hiram Lodge’s grip and on the verge of becoming a ghost town. When Toni catches him up on what’s been going on, Archie reaches out to the rest of the gang to return home."

As seen in the preview above, a lot has changed in the last seven years for Archie and the gang. When we last saw Archie, he made an impulsive decision to enlist in the military and has since seen combat in the Army.

Meanwhile, Jughead has become a published author, Betty an FBI agent, and Veronica married to a bland white man named Chadwick.

As with any time jump, how we arrive at these new moments remains to be seen. Betty becoming an FBI agent and Jughead a published author is not too suprising, though there are likely some fun twists and turns along the way we didn’t get to see.

However, there are more pressing questions like, who is Chadwick? Is he remotely deserving of Veronica? Not to mention, what have the rest of the Riverdale crew been up to – Toni, Cheryl, Kevin, and Fangs? It’s unclear what mystery will draw them all back to Riverdale, but it’s sure to be something
