PassionFlix: If you love the book ship, you’ll love the movie ship
There’s nothing quite like hoping two fictional characters will come together in a series or movie only to find out that it was never meant to be. PassionFlix offers solace for shippers because when they option a book they bring it to life as authentically as possible, so if you loved the ship in the book, you’re going to love it in the movie. It’s a win-win.
People always ask me if I ship any characters. Given my interest in a variety of fandoms, it’s a fair question but the answer is usually surprising because it’s a resounding no. I don’t ship, because I have a very real phobia of being let down when the ship doesn’t happen. There’s no shipping in this port, let me tell you. I think my ill-fated history with shipping started around the time when Mulder and Scully should have absolutely been together but never actually got together. Then there was Buffy and Angel, and Buffy and Spike. I would have been happy with either one of those, but no. And what in the glorious heck was Sookie Stackhouse thinking when she turned down Bill AND Eric!?
With PassionFlix, ships are safe.
With PassionFlix, ships are sacred.
If you love the book and the relationships in the book, you will love the movie or the series. It’s the safest bet around.
That’s the allure of romance novels in general: If you’re looking for two people to end up together, in a romance novel there is no question that it will happen. It’s just a matter of how, and when. If it’s a standalone novel the resolution will be there by the end, and if it’s a series then there might be some ups and downs before the happy couple finds their happiness.
PassionFlix offers a solid mix of standalone films, movie series and TV-style series that bring beloved romance novels to life in a way that isn’t done anywhere else. In order to get the details right, a single book could be divided into six episodes, as with the Driven Series, or into multiple feature-length films, like The Gabriel Series. The focus on details and “getting it right” for fans is of utmost import.
A great deal of comfort is derived from the dedication to those little details and knowing that the events in the book will come to life in a similar way. If you’ve read the book then you know what happens, and it’s watching the book come to life that makes it so special. There are no surprise and sudden plot twists that deviate from the book, so fans can tune in knowing exactly what they’re getting.
There’s also something to be said about knowing that all of the PassionFlix series and movies wind up with a happy ending. The only time you might be left with a cliffhanger is when the book is divided into several parts, like the Gabriel’s Inferno movies, or if it’s a series like Driven and the books end with some kind of struggle between the characters.
While I don’t personally ship characters on TV or in movies anymore, I do understand why those ships are so important to fans and it’s always hard to see when their hopes for characters don’t pan out. That’s one of the reasons I love PassionFlix, because with all of the things happening in the world it’s so nice to be able to turn on any movie in their library and find something that will have a happy ending and leave a smile on my face.
