Why didn’t they ever let Hagrid back into Hogwarts as a student?
So Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts and that was tragic for him as a character but when all was said and done with Voldemort, why didn’t they let him back in?
Hagrid used to be a student at Hogwarts. That’s something we learn and probably assumed is true until we learned the rest of his story anyway. But when the basilisk comes to Hogwarts because of Voldemort, the blame gets put on Hagrid for Aragog and he’s expelled from the school.
Dumbledore takes care of him and looks after Hagrid, making sure that he’s okay and still able to work at the school, but he doesn’t get let back in and why? Wouldn’t it be clear that Hagrid wasn’t to blame for what was going on? Or was it the fact that he had Aragog there in the first place that confirmed his expulsion and they didn’t want to bring him back?
Whatever it is, it isn’t really fair to Hagrid. It wasn’t fair to Newt Scamander either. They had evil witches and wizards at their school but these two with animals couldn’t stay? It seems a bit misguided and Hogwarts could have done better by Hagrid and Newt.
Sure, they couldn’t break the rules for Newt or Hagrid but expulsion seems to be a bit harsh because of their love of animals. The school itself clearly was missing a market on magical creatures and so maybe they should have paid more attention to what their students wanted to focus their time and energy on.
Finally, Hagrid got to teach Care of Magical Creatures but it didn’t seem to exist prior and that should have happened after Newt Scamander.
