Tom Felton is no stranger to dropping bombshells about the process of making the Harry Potter movies, but he shared a surprising bit of news with fans.

While rewatching Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone with fans on Instagram Live, Felton pointed out with delight that his grandfather, Nigel Anstey, appeared in the movie.

Anstey first appears when Dumbledore is standing up to give a speech in the Great Hall, and you can see the grandfather of Felton seated two places to the right of the Headmaster. He is shown again in a Great Hall scene when Professor Quirrell barges in on Halloween night to inform everyone that there is a troll in the dungeon.

Felton was especially excited about this scene, explaining “Oh my days, it actually goes my gramps than me.”

Felton’s grandpa is shown one more time in the movie and is the easiest one to spot. During the first Quidditch match of the year, Anstey can be seen directly behind and to the left of commentator Lee Jordan in the stands. When it cuts to Jordan, it is impossible not to the actor.

While he might be known now as a Harry Potter actor, Anstey is a renowned geophysicist who even has an award named after him from the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers.

Felton has made it a habit to host rewatchings of the movies during the pandemic, and has shared several bits of interesting information during them. There is no telling what he could share next time he hops on Instagram Live.

Next. It’s too early for a new Harry Potter adaptation. dark
