Saturday Night Live: John Krasinski kisses Pete Davidson’s Pam in SNL debut
John Krasinski made quite an impression during his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. Not surprisingly, his opening monologue featured a nod to The Office, and after some good-natured prodding from the “audience” of SNL cast members, Krasinski channeled Jim Halpert to lay a big kiss on Pete Davidson’s “Pam”.
Krasinski’s debut on Saturday Night Live has been almost a year in the making. He was scheduled to appear last year prior to the release of A Quiet Place II, but then the pandemic hit and everything got pushed back until it was safe to return.
In fact, in an ironic twist, Krasinski’s appearance during the January 30 show would have been a great place to promote A Quiet Place II after it was bumped from 2020 to an April 2021 premiere, but the film was just pushed back to September earlier this week.
As fate would have it, though, Krasinski was able to pivot to his breakout role as Jim Halpert in his opening monologue and it worked out perfectly.
John Krasinski Channels The Office In Saturday Night Live Debut
The Some Good News creator was in the middle of fielding endless questions about The Office when Pete Davidson came out to apologize, noting that after being stuck inside watching The Office for a year, Jim and Pam have an even bigger following.
Kenan Thompson, as an audience member, points to Davidson and asks if he’s Pam. Krasinski gives a Jim-like shrug at the camera before planting a kiss on Davidson.
It’s one of those big SNL moments that had social media buzzing almost immediately after it happened. Naturally, the moment hit big with fans of The Office and it made people love Krasinski even more.
Let’s hope John Krasinski never loses his sense of humor about The Office, because it’s always fun to support his current projects while also celebrating the role that made him a star.
