James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley join Great British Bake Off celebrity edition
The Great British Bake Off, known here in the US as the Great British Baking Show, is hosting a celebrity edition to help raise money and awareness for Stand Up to Cancer. The 5-episode miniseries is coming to UK television this spring with a guest list that includes Daisy Ridley and James McAvoy.
Each new season of the Great British Bake Off is like event television, especially now that viewers in the United States can tune in on Netflix a few days after the show airs in the UK.
Not only has GBBO been highly bingeable during the pandemic, but it has played a role in many amateur kitchens all over the world as people tried their hand at baking while they were stuck at home.
The prospect of watching celebrities struggling to complete Paul Hollywood’s recipes is tantalizing. Will he hold back his razor-sharp criticism or will Hollywood let loose on some of Hollywood’s biggest stars?
Who Will Be Part Of The Celebrity Cast Of Great British Bake Off?
Though Star Wars star Daisy Ridley and X-Men’s James McAvoy might be the most recognizable names on the list among American viewers, the rest of the cast is filled with many well-known UK celebrities that span sports, comedy, music and television.
The full cast is as follows: Ridley, McAvoy, Dame Kelly Holmes, John Bishop, Stacey Dooley, Tom Allen, David Baddiel, Jade Thirlwall, KSI, Ade Adepitan, Philippa Perry, Nick Grimshaw, Rob Beckett, Alexandra Burke, Anneka Rice, Reece Shearsmith, Dizzee Rascal, Anne-Marie, Nadine Coyle and Katherine Ryan.
It’s unclear who will serve as presenters and judges for the series, but we can only hope that Paul and Prue Leith will return as judges because they are quite the team.
It’s unknown whether the charity edition of Great British Bake Off will air in the United States as of this writing, but we can only hope that Netflix will air new episodes weekly because celebrities baking in the tent is what we deserve.
