While Hermione Granger had Harry Potter and Ron Weasley as friends, she is also a character who really didn’t have many female friends throughout the franchise.

Throughout the entire Harry Potter series, Hermione Granger had both Ron Weasley and Harry Potter but she didn’t really have a female friend to turn to. Later, she got to hang out more with Ginny Weasley but that wasn’t the same thing as having friends all her own.

So would that have been better for the series? Well, it certainly would have been better for her as a character. So much of the problems Hermione faces is because she’s thrust into this male-dominated world and she’s the only woman there to either tell the boys what to do or be in charge in many situations.

And that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Hermione shouldn’t be the one who basically has to “mother” all the men in her life and the fact that she can’t really turn anyone else is telling. She basically has Harry, because Ron is her husband and while they’re friends, that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t still have friends to talk to.

So why didn’t she ever really get close with other kids at Hogwarts? Harry and Ron had some other friends but Hermione, for whatever reason, didn’t get her time to really talk with people or show her friendships and when she did, it was usually another man. What was the reason for that? Was it something that just happened or was it a conscious choice? Either way, it would have been nice to see Hermione have some other friends.
