Would a gritty version of the Harry Potter series work?

Dark and gritty reboots are all the rage in the entertainment world and so what if the Harry Potter series got that treatment? Would it work for the Boy Who Lived?

When it comes to adapting a series, there is often talk of a gritty report and thinking about the Harry Potter series, it is something that could surprisingly work. The most obvious example of a change is pace and tone comes from the Batman movies.

The world of Gotham is filled with weird and fun characters and the more recent adaptations have taken them to a more serious and dark place. But the Harry Potter series is filled with magic and a joy that fans loved as kids but if we adapted it to be something a bit darker and show the horrors of the wizarding world, it can be a fresh look at this story we all know so well.

Right now, we know the series through and through. It is something we’ve always been obsessed with and even with things like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we still don’t really need to know that information, we know what happened that lead to the rise of Voldemort.

So something like a “gritty” reboot could help give new life to the franchise and bring us into the world in a new way. But who knows what the future will hold for the Harry Potter series. Especially with HBO Max apparently looking at making a series all their own.

Maybe we will get a gritty look at the wizarding world and the darkness there yet!
