The CW’s reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger kicked off last Thursday, introducing viewers to Jared Padalecki’s rendition of Cordell Walker and racking up a whopping 2.43 million viewers in the process. The series premiere of Walker didn’t bring anything too groundbreaking to the table, but it did present some interesting mysteries and characters for the first season to delve further into.

It seems this week’s episode will touch briefly on the central mystery of the series — what happened to Cordell’s wife — but it also promises to focus on the characters we’ll be following for the rest of the season.

According to the synopsis for “Back in the Saddle,” Cordell may have some trouble blending back into his old life — especially when it comes to his family:

"“Walker continues to try to reconnect with his family but finds that his kids have developed new routines with Liam. Back at work, Captain James tells Walker he needs to get recertified to be a Ranger, but old memories of Emily hinder his progress. Micki investigates a suspicious fire.”"

Judging by the promo footage for the episode, it will explore the tensions between Walker and his daughter, which were at an all-time high during the premiere.

It also seems Cordell will be doing some digging into his wife’s murder, much to his boss’ chagrin. The question of his own sanity may come into play, as well as how seamlessly Cordell fits into the Texas Rangers division. Fortunately, it looks like Micki will have his back throughout the whole ordeal.

It’s too soon to say how things might unfold in this series, but there’s one definite way to find out: by turning on the TV.
